It is this spring tension that will help the awning roll back up once you remove the screw at the motor head. Do NOT do anything with the rear connection as it is holding high spring tension especially if awning is fully extended. It will NOT hurt the motor or destroy anything. This will allow the awning to bypass the motors "brake" and wind up. Align hole where bolt was removed and drive bolt While one person is holding onto the pull strap, remove the bolt in the top of the right top casting. The FRTA will roll in once the bolt is removed. Slide the pull strap (provided) into the utility slot of the FRTA. That will tell you if it is power related or if it is the motor. You can also connect a verified 12volt power source(extra battery) to the motor side connection and see if awning motor works.

Best way to verify is unhook power on your awning arm and test voltage there.

Have you verified full 12v power to the motor.

The 9000 series motor sounds like it is hung up. He told me later that he was off work for several weeks while healing. As he was finishing and adjusting the springs something went wrong and he ended up with a broken arm. A couple of years ago we hired a mobile service tech to replace the motor in ours. If you do decide to work on the awning yourself, please remember to read the instructions carefully. You should probably get it rolled up and take it in but here's the replacement procedure if you want to tackle it: Note that this will destroy the internal electrical connection of the motor but it probably needs replaced anyway and it ain't cheap and it ain't easy. The emergency retract procedure is to insert an awning strap and use an awning bar to slow the roll-up and then remove the screw at the top of the casting on the motor side. If it doesn't go, you'll have to get a ladder and push it all the way but keep the ropes on it anyway. You can control it with a rope or two and a helper. It may roll up if pushed when the motor is turning but might take off quickly and slam shut. Is there a way to get it to retract without breaking anything?Ĭhances are good that the motor shaft is broken. I have full power at connection, and can hear the motor trying to move.
